Jenny Bartosek, AM, LISW

Jenny is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LISW) who is passionate about helping people gain insight and a sense of empowerment as they navigate the transitions and challenges inherent in life.

Getting stuck in life is part of living, and Jenny helps people manage those hurdles. Jenny creates a safe and open space for clients to deepen their awareness of themselves and others. With new found insights, a deeper understanding of one’s thought process and patterns, Jenny believes clients will be equipped with the knowledge required to make significant change in their lives and relationships. Although Jenny has experience and interest in working with individuals of all ages, she specializes in working with the diagnosis and treatment of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, co-dependency, eating disorders, and related issues.

Jenny holds a Masters in Arts in Clinical Psychotherapy and School Social Work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Legal Studies, Economics and Government from American University. Jenny began her professional career as a school social worker where she gained experience working with adolescents, families, trauma, and the school system. Jenny credits her school social work experience with solidifying her passion to help people through life’s most challenging times.

Jenny has advanced clinical training in treating couples as well as trauma by nationally and internationally respected psychotherapists, including the Gottman Method Couples Therapy by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. Jenny is a member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). In addition, she stays current with the latest research and trends in the field through reading and professional education opportunities.

Jenny’s approach to therapy is collaborative in nature. She offers a calm, insightful and compassionate presence as concerns are identified and addressed during therapy. Jenny’s strength based perspective honors the client while using a solution-focused, mindfulness based, relational approach to help clients meet their goals.

Research shows that the connection between mind, body and spirit is a significant factor in the healing process and creating lasting change. Jenny holds firmly to this belief and works with clients to develop strategies and techniques that enhance the experience of this connection.

When Jenny isn’t working, she is trying new restaurants, drinking tea, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
