Katie specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and self-concept issues for clients over the age of 10. Prior to founding Kovacs Counseling in 2012, Katie received a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish Education from Cedarville University and a Master’s of Science in Education from the University of Dayton. Significantly impacted by going to therapy herself, Katie finds satisfaction in practicing both the art and science of counseling in a warm and relational way. Today, Katie strives to build an environment of safety, trust, and hope while allowing others to share their pain, challenges, and fears. Finding passion in learning, Katie is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision at The Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine, where she also serves as an adjunct faculty member. Outside of work, Katie enjoys walking her energetic Labrador Retrievers, reading, listening to podcasts, spending time at the horse barn, watching her kids play basketball, and enjoying her back patio with her spouse.
Katie received a BA in Spanish Education from Cedarville University and an MSEd. in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton. She completed her specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders with some of the most esteemed practitioners in the nation, including Evelyn Tirbole, Dr. John Locke, and Carolyn Costin. She is also certified in EMDR, a trauma treatment modality.
